Re: New Informix packaging and, presumably, pricing

It sure is. "Need a free database? Download Informix now. Free to develop, free to deploy" Cool! The IBM License Information documents for Innovator-C and Ultimate-C have this language: 1) IBM Base License This Program has been provided to Licensee at no charge. This License Information serves as Licensee's Proof of Entitlement (PoE). Innovator-C is available for all platforms (? - platform availability link sends me to Informix Dynamic Server, not Innovator-C so I'm not 100% sure) and has the following limitations: Maximum 1 Physical CPU, 4 cores total Maximum 2 GB of memory to Informix (SHMTOTAL <= 2097152) Maximum of 2 ER admin nodes (does this mean unlimited ER nodes but a max of 2 nodes can hold the global catalog?) MACH11 can be 1 Primary and either 1 HDR Secondary or 1 RSS node, secondaries can be writable Can not use the following features: DBSpace Prioritization during backup/restore Recovery Time Objective Policy Private Memory Cache for VP Direct I/O for Cooked Files I-STAR Parallel query High Performance Loader Parallel index build Parallel backup/restore Table/Index/DBSpace partitioning Column level encryption Compression (e.g., the Storage Optimization Feature) Advanced Access Control (Label based access control) Last commit concurrency Multiple triggers and views Web feature service Node DataBlade Auto-gather statistics during index build Point-in-time table recovery SQL Warehouse (SQW) Shared Disk Secondary (SDS) The only things that bum me out are the lack of PDQ, partitioning (is fragmentation OK?) and RTO_SERVER_RESTART (have to use CKPTINTVL), but I can't really complain. ER and HDR in a free version of Informix that can be used in production is pretty sweet. Ultimate-C is available on Windows and Mac OS X Maximum 4 Physical CPUs, 16 cores total Maximum 16 GB Memory to Informix MACH11 can be 1 Primary and either 1 HDR Secondary or 1 RSS node, secondaries can be writable Can not use the following features: Compression SDS nodes Andrew ----- Original Message ----- From: Fernando Nunes To: IIUG Informix List Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2010 11:31 AM Subject: Re: New Informix packaging and, presumably, pricing Website is updated!
