With similar problems caused by program crashes during debugging of programs using the Vermont Views interface library, use of shl (shell layers) on a machine running AT&T UNix Sys V enables regaining of control by switching to another terminal session and killing the process yourself. Sounds like it might also solve your problem. (Informix was the database in use at the time also, but that is incidental to the solution) chad price price@helios.unl.edu
