As far as I am aware, using BAR in IDS 7.3 the only option available from the system is to backup to a tape device. Is it possible to backup to a file on the local machine, and if so how? Regards, Kirk

Kirk, you can use Informix's built in storage manager, ISM (Informix Storage Manager), to do archives to disk. Consult the documentation on ISM as it comes prepackaged with IDS 7.3 and above. And you can use onbar with ISM as well.
