Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I re-read my note on buffer waits and realized that I left out an
important piece of information. My buffer waits for any one query could
increase by 10,000 or more. Why are buffwaits so high when I am doing only
read activity? Is this normal and I shouldn't worry about it? While
looking at the onstat -p output I come up with one more question. Why is
there a lock request issued for every page read in a query? Just curious.
Thanks to those of you who wrote me wanting to know why I was complaining
about buffer waits near 0. Since I work at a university perhaps I'll
signup for a class on writing.
