RE: Onbar -r
Posted in 2000
If you backup your data with the whole system backup option (-w),
you should restore it with that option (onbar -r -w).
Does your new server have the control files from the original server?
* ixbar.?
* oncfg.*
* sqlhosts file
* $ONCONFIG file
These files are described in more detail in the Backup and Restore Guide.
If so, it becomes a storage manager issue.
What is your storage manager? I do not believe that ISM supports
imported restores. Other storage managers do, but you may need to
make it believe that you are restoring to the machine from which the
backup was taken.

Subject: Onbar -r
Hello, I am having problems restoring using onbar:
The database was backed up to two seperate tapes one for data and one
for logical logs.
The onbar command issued was 'onbar -b -L 0 -w' . Informix Dynamic
Server Version 7.30.UC3 is
what is on the Solaris 2.5.1 system (Ultra 5). I am trying to restore
the database to a different server,
with everything set up the same, including the partitions for the raw
slices. To restore to the new server I simply issue an 'onmode -ky'
then 'onbar -r -p' followed by 'onbar -r -l' . This does not generate
any
errors, however when I try to view the recovered data there is nothing
there. I am sure that the data is on the tape and the tape had been
write protected. Any ideas?
Regards,
Shaun
