User reported IDS onsoctcp network driver errors (err -25573, oserr 11) on Linux kernel 2.2.x, working fine on 2.0.36. Initial suggestions included adding NETTYPE soctcp,1,50,CPU configuration and moving tcp poll thread to CPU vp class. Root cause traced to Linux kernel change between 2.2.0pre7 and 2.2.1 in fs/select.c; reverting select.c from pre7 resolved the issue.

anybody got IDS onsoctcp running on 2.2.x
this is what I got
in sqlhost
db onsoctcp mymachine db
the errors I am getting in online.log are
01:16:22 listener-thread: err = -25573: oserr = 11: errstr = : Network driver cannot accept a connection on the port.
System error = 11.
I am running slackware and it works fine with 2.0.36

What do your NETTYPE settings look like ? Did you use NETTYPE soctcp,1,50,CPU.
According to the realse notes this is a must.

The following is taken from the IDN FAQ on Linux IDS
(http://www.informix.com/idn-secure/Linux/WebPages/tfaq.html):
Q: Are sockets supported in Informix Dynamic Server, Linux Edition
Suite? I've installed all the patches and meet the requirements in the
release notes, but I get an error.
A: The tcp poll thread doesn't like running on the NET vp. Move it to
the CPU vp class.
Hope this helps.

When I first read your posting, I thought "Works fine on my system"
(rh5.2, 2.2.0pre7). But then I switched to 2.2.1 and -oops- got the same
error. Rebooted 2.2.0pre7 and everything was fine again.
BTW: What's that NETTYPE thing?
Bye...

thanks for the post I was thinking it broke in 2.1 somewhere
broke from pre7 to pre8
fs/select.c
If I copy select.c from pre7 to pre8 the errors stop
I havent tried to connect remotly yet
If I get the time I will do some more investigating
