Re: Disks for informix

Firstly you need to know what portions of these disks have already been
allocated. I normally start by producing a map of each drive. This is best
done by using the output of onstat -d and mapping the portions of each disk
that have been allocated. But you do need to know how big each disk is.
As to whether or not you need an offset at the beginning of each drive that
is a different question.

sending to informix-list
Here is what I want to know
I have a dbspace called dbs3 - here is its chunks:
Chunks
address chk/dbs offset size free bpages flags pathname
17a2a950 4 2 0 250000 7 PO- /informix/disk1-a-5
17a2b9f0 4 2 0 250000 0 MO- /informix/disk1-b-5

17a2b4b0 17 2 0 250000 1 PO- /informix/disk3-a-3

17a53a90 20 2 0 250000 0 MO- /informix/disk1-b-6
I have a disk:
disk2-a 18G
split like this:
disk2-a-1 2G #used
disk2-a-2 2G #used
disk2-a-3 2G #used
disk2-a-4 2G #used
disk2-a-5 2G #used
disk2-a-6 2G
disk2-a-7 2G
disk2-a-8 2G
disk2-a-9 867M
I want to add disk2-a-6 (and it's mirror disk2-b-6) to chunk dbs3
my other disks partitions are supposed to be 2Gb in size too
but when doing onstat -d (as above) they show as 250000 - this confuses
me.
