Re: 4gl, initialize record.* to spaces

You have to create another record like your working record, set each of its fields' values to blank (or 0, ...) once. Bothersome, but there you are. Then, you can set your work record to the blank_rec as often as you need to with a "LET record.* = blank_rec.*" statement. cheng wrote: > > > Hello, every one. > > I have been using informix 4gl for a long time. > > I fell that "initialize record.* to null" is good enough to use, > but in the real world, I think > > " initialize record.* to spaces" > > is also very important. > (1) initialize char, text, nchar to spaces > (2) initialize digital(smallint,integer,date..) to 0(zero) > just like COBOL's move spaces to. > > I could not find this sentence in informix-4gl, so I write > a C program preprocessor by myself to do this function for me. > > Can anybody tell me there is any function of 4gl > do the same thing? or can anybody tell Informix > to put this function in their next realese informix-4gl (7.4?) > > Thanks. > -- Colin
