Hi,
I want to delimiter SHMTOTAL because I don't have much memory.
hence, I only want one Virtual segment.
now, this messages appears on online.log
19:13:12 size of resident + virtual segments 23437312 + 33308672 >51200000
total allowed by configuration parameter SHMTOTAL
Can any thing work wrong ? Which is the minim size allowed ?
Thanks,
Manel
SHMTOTAL is the maximum that the sum of the RESIDENT and VIRTUAL segments
can reach. Set SHMTOTAL to (zero) bring up the engine, note the total
of the sizes of the class 'R' and class 'V' segments and set SHMTOTAL to
that value.

It's telling you that you reduced SHMTOTAL to a value lower than BUFFERS
+ LOCKS + ... Heck I don't remember what all.
You need to make a corresponding reduction in other configuration
parameters. I'd guess that the biggest change would be in BUFFERS.
