This is what I think need to be done. In the "system" file(/etc/system): set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax <value > --> max size of a single shared memory segment. Approx equal to or more than the total Informix Shared memory for resident portion (buffers + etc) Informix needs 4 segments (I think) you can also add the following: set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg ---> Maximum # of segments a single process can access set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni --> maximum total segments in the system (unix) The second error you got is probably because Informix did not clean up after the first abort.. You need to shutdown the system or clean up manually. It is also possible that you have two instances of online with the same server num. Question is, under a out-of-the-box system, which changes do I need to make and how do I got about making them? Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. I'm not exactly a proficient sysadmin for Solaris and we're not sure we'll use Informix yet so it isn't worth big problems if that is what I'm going to face.
