Hello!
Can anyone give me an answer what means "on", "ol" or "se"
in nettype/protocol. I have a problem. I added another line
to my sqlhosts and onconfig.ows for socet tcp connectivity
and it doesn't works... When I try to access db via dbaccess
and new db name fv_soc it says that I have a problem with
services or protocol.
sqlhost file:
fv oltlitcp nms1 turbosql
fv_soc olsoctcp 157.25.4.151 1521

Umm, each platform supports either TLI or SOC (sockets) but it is rare to
be on a platform that supports both (7.24 on DGUX is the only one that I
know of and Informix removed SOC support in 7.3x) because only one is native
on the platform and therefore efficient. The other is normally supplied as
a layer over the native interface. HOWEVER, fear not, you CAN use sockets
library calls to connect to an engine using TLI calls to listen, the
difference is ONLY at the call level interface NOT the underlying protocols
which are IDENTICAL. You do not need the new sqlhosts line you put in. If
you just want to document things you can keep the line and the DBSERVERALIAS
just change the protocol to oltlitcp.
