IDS Alert -> Mobile Phone Text Message

I am aware that there are systems out there that have been set up such that when an event is detected by the ALARMPROGRAM it pages an administator. I am UK-based and would like a similar mechanism but have the ALARMPROGRAM send a Text Message to a mobile 'phone (porbably via email?) - any ideas anyone ? I have no problems generating email messages from our Informix server. I am aware that www.breathe.com (amongst others I am sure) offers this free service but it currently needs manually entered text - i.e. cannot be driven by an email. I use SPRINT PCS here and just email to <my phone number>@sprintpcs.com and the first 100 chars or so show up as a text message on my phone. Contact local cellular and/or PCS providers and see what options they have. Also those services that require manual text entry are likely using text pager interfaces which is well defined so contact them for docs on how to do that through software as well. It may involve calling a particular phone number and uploading the text there. Art S. The alpha pages we use allow for messages to be sent to an email address. For example we use Airtouch and if my pager number is (602) 123-4567 to send an alpha page the message would be sent to 6021234567@myairmail.com. We have added various CASE values to our ALARM_PROGRAM log_full.sh that look like the following: case "$EVENT_CLASS" in xx) echo $INFORMIXSERVER $EVENT_MSG \\ |mail -s "${EVENT_MSG}" 6021234567@myairmail.com ;;
