Re: Let's get together in TAMPA

Sounds like Monday night is winning by default. Some place centrally located would probably be best. I had to call the Hyatt, so while I was at it I asked if they had any suggestions. They mentioned the following (with their comments): CDB's - primarily Italian cuisine, good food, large facility, casual, separate area for socializing without eating Cecila's - bistro, smaller, quaint, good food Eric's Bar & Grill - no separate social area, but outdoor patio, food OK Harbor Island - an area with several different establishments They didn't mention anything that sounded like Jack's seafood place. At last year's conference, some of the user group representatives were invited to one of the "private" parties (I forget which one) Informix had on Day 2. I've heard nothing about that this year. If this get-together is reasonably well attended, perhaps there will be something semi-official next year. A while back, I exchanged e-mail with some people in Tampa about the possibility of having one or more conference systems hooked to the Net (anybody know anything about that?). I'll try to dig up their addresses and see if they have any suggestions. As I understand it, there will be several books announced at the conference. Maybe we could get the various publishers to call it a publication party and pick up the tab. :-) I'll post any other details I find out. If anyone is getting a sense of how many people we're talking about (Joe L.?), and you think it might be kind of big, maybe we should try to get the place we decide on to set an area aside. Walt. PS: Apologies discussing this via posting, but I agree that in this case it's more efficient than trying to handle it off-line. At least it isn't MAKE.MONEY.FAST, etc. :-) -- Walt Hultgren Internet: walt@rmy.emory.edu (IP 128.140.8.1) Emory University UUCP: {...,gatech,rutgers,uunet}!emory!rmy!walt 954 Gatewood Road, NE BITNET: walt@EMORY Atlanta, GA 30329 USA Voice: +1 404 727 0648
