4GL 7.20 UD4 --> UD7

Under the direction of Informix we recently updated our tools from 7.20 UD4 to UD7 to fix some bugs that some of our production 4GL programs were experiencing. We ran into a runtime issue where we are running a 4go program compiled under UD4 in a UD7 runtime environment. It reports Forms statement error number -1345, undefined opcode, please recompile with a compatible version of fglpc". Recompiling under UD7 fixes the problem, which has something to do with the use a 4GL command like "Open form x from "x"". If we use "Open window with form" instead the UD4 compiled program under UD7 runs correctly without -1345. We are on a NCR MP-RAS 3.02 platform. Does this sound a UD7 problem? I wouldn't think we should have to recompile all of UD4 compiled code under UD7 when we are at the same version level; 7.20 UD4 --> UD7. We have many programs that use the "Open form" type command. I have reported it to Informix, they say recompile, which we can do, but it creates a "program conversion" lifecycle, which should not be necessary. Any suggestions, assistance, advice will be greatly appreciated :-)) -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own

Informix has always felt free to muck with the internals of the C4GL compiler and its libraries, and the R4GL compilers and runtime pmachine. This lack of constraint has frequently resulted in "recompile" advice from the runtime or tech support or both. Just a fact of life. Art S. Kagel
