Help with Error 25590

Hi I am trying to use dbaccess to access a database and I get the following error message "-25590 Authentication error." I am only able to access the database as Informix user only. How can I access the database as other users also. Thanks Shankar

Hi I have provide GRANT CONNECT TO PUBLIC for the database in question. But what happens is when I start dbaccess and goto database select, I get the error message "25590: Authentication error." I did not even get to select any database. It looks like the database server does not know user other than Informix. Is there a way to add users to a database server? I am only able to select any database as Informix user. Any help would be appreciated. Hi, don't know which platform you're on ... though I think it's the same for Windows and for UNIXs : Just granting access to a user is not enough. You have to create a login account for the user on the machine where the server is running. Because the server does the password check for a user via the normal OS routines, utilizing the OS "database" for user credentials (on UNIX /etc/passwd, ...). NIS/NIS+ would also work.
