I have the same problem. What I have concluded is that all nchar columns
are returned as null
strings. One solution to get things working is to use only char columns in
database. You can
create database on version 7.x with appropriate locale, but you must useonly char columns
in your application. In that way applications using version 5.x can connect
to version 7.x and
enter appropriate 8 bit characters. However there are two drawbacks. First,
you will not be
able to use collation sequence of GLS, and second, you will still not be
able to use dbaccess
as you tried, since catalog tables are allways created with nchar columns.
I had simmilar problems
and asked Informix tech support, and am still waiting for answer.
Hope that this will help.
