Paul You can use Informix's HDR to do what you want. I have a database which resides on a mirrored disk (using hardware mirroring). I want to split the mirror and perform lengthy read only calculations on the mirrored (secondary) data before remerging. This is so that other processes can update the database without affecting the calculations, which require the data they read to be static. I believe I can do this by starting a new database server with it's own ONCONFIG file. But this will probably cause performance problems. Is it possible to refer to this mirrored data (it will have it's own entry in /dev) as a new database from the existing database server?
