Since your concern is minimizing downtime as an added precaution you can also set CONVERSION_GUARD ($ONCONFIG file parameter) . If something should go wrong during the migration this will allow you the opportunity do simply revert back to your pre migration version after running the onrestorept utility. This avoids having to do a full restore. Check the online documenation if interested.
