If you're on V7, you can using the auditing facility to log users=20
connecting to databases=2E The way to do this is:
=20
Turn auditing on (onaudit -l 1 -p <dir to put audit files in>)=2E
Audit the OPDB event (onaudit -a -u _require -e +OPDB)=2E
Consult the Trusted Facility Manual, pages 3-6 on=2E This tells you h=
ow=20
to create the table in which to load the audit data=2E
Use cron to load the audit data=2E

Subject: Triggers on Sysmaster tables =2E=2E=2E

hi all,
=20
I have a unique requirement to log all the users connecting to a=20
server (to a table residing in a monitoring database)once for each=20
successful connection=2E The table should have unique users who were=20
able to connect to the server=2E
=20
I have explored the possibility of creating a trigger on the relevant
sysmaster tables=2E But as Informix manages the sysmaster database by=20
not using the SQL statements, on which the triggers are built on, I=20
am left with two options
=20
a=2E creat a shell/perl script to monitor the users at regular
intervals
and update the table=2E
b=2E create an alarm file for onprobe/oncockpit and have a stored
procedure do=20
the same job=2E
=20
But I feel both will far less efficient and can often miss the users who=20
connect to
the server only for seconds (even if the alarm file/scripts execution=20
interval every
few seconds)=2E Is there a better way of getting the job done?
=20
=20
I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions, thanks=2E
