Sounds like the server didn't finish closing down itself and some memory is
still wondering around.
You'll have to send the OS details and the gurus will be more than helpful
about cleaning up the
lost memory.

Well it could be basically anything but the server was probably busy or
stuck trying to do a CKPT
when you killed it.
