RDS out of string space problem

I have used V3 RDS in a previous job and I am currently trying to evaluate V4.10 RDS for use with our informix database package. Apart from a few minor problems which I had expected the major problem at the moment is that the RDS version of the package keeps hitting error -4518 cannot allocate any more space for temporary string storage. This does not occur with the V4.00 I4GL version of the package. Is this a bug that I have not heard of, if so is there a workaround. If not, it is going to be difficult to track down, as the program I am testing is made up of 34 seperate 4gl modules (14,384 lines) and uses a customised runner which has 9 C modules (982 lines) and one complicated .ec module that makes use of the p4gl_call library function to invoke certain 4gl functions. Since unlike I4GL the ESQLC does not come with RDS the .ec is being compiled to .o using the V4.00 c4gl and then linked using the V4.10 cfglgo. Most of the 4gl functions use globals with very few pass by value (not my code I hasten to add ;-) so why/where it is running out of string space I do not know ? The problem manifests itself after using several menu options in any combination including repetitively. The problem is always reproduceable when following a chain of events, but each individual menu option can be run successfully at least once. This seems to be symptomatic of the RDS not freeing up stack parameters somewhere? I know this is a bit general but as I said earlier this program is fairly hairy and none of the original code was mine. I would appreciate any advice on what might be causing the problem if it is not an RDS bug. thanks in advance mark kellaway -- * /^\\ * mak - mak@spuddy.uucp ...!uknet!axion!spuddy!mak * /\\|/\\ * Remember wherever you go there you are ! * /-<o>-\\ * Meeeeow !
