I started noticing this problem when I installed IDS 12.10.TC1E . This happens on Windows Server 2008 64bit and also on 2008 R2 64bit. The connection may take 20 seconds instead of way under a second as it did on 11.70C3. I tested with âselect tabname from systables where tabid = 1â in a c++ program using ado and traced it to get this but the query completed with correct result: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIexecsql x 2344-978 EXIT SQLDriverConnectW with return code 1 (SQL_SUCCESS_WITH_INFO) HDBC 0x00328098 HWND 0x00000000 WCHAR * 0x70B68B34 [ -3] "******\\\\ 0" SWORD -3 WCHAR * 0x70B68B34 <Invalid buffer length!> [-3] SWORD -3 SWORD * 0x00000000 UWORD 0 <SQL_DRIVER_NOPROMPT> DIAG [IM006] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed (0) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIexecsql x 2344-978 EXIT SQLSetConnectAttrW with return code -1 (SQL_ERROR) SQLHDBC 0x00328098 SQLINTEGER 0 <SQL_ATTR_QUERY_TIMEOUT> SQLPOINTER 0 SQLINTEGER -6 DIAG [S1C00] [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver]Optional feature not implemented. (-11097) The value specified for the argument Attribute was a valid ODBC environment attribute for the version of ODBC supported by the driver, but the attribute was not supported by the driver. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is there something broken with this odbc driver?
I'm lost. But what is the ODBC version? 11.70.xC5 and 12.10 support a much larger "buffer" for SQL statements (from 64KB to 4GB or something like that). It may happen that you have a mismatch between the client and database server versions? But I don't see how that would translate into a slow connect. Most of the times if not all these are reverse DNS issues. See the section of the Informix ODCB Programmers Manual called: Partially supported and unsupported ODBC features. Likely you have specified an attribute which the engine doesn't support. Art Art S.
