Speaking unofficially but plausibly, no version of Informix-SE will ever be optimised for multi-processor environments. Still speaking unofficially, OnLine engines ported to multi-processor platforms are optimised for multi-processor use. OnLine engines ported to single-processor platforms are optimised for uni-processor use. I would be rather cautious about using a uni-processor port of OnLine on a multi-processor platform. Where a machine type can use one or many processors, you need to be very careful as there may be different ports; one for the uni-processor configuration, one for the multi-processor configuration.
