Informix will not accept your /data as rootdbs (or any other chunk) path. You don't have to mount /dev/hdb5 - just use it as the rootdbs path. You don't have to make any filesystem on /dev/hdb5 (of course you can make it and mount it, but then you have to create a zero length file and set this file as the rootdbs file). I think you are not making any filesystem on HP-UX on your logical volumes. Am I wrong ? No, in the HP world we're not using filesystems; my Informix rawspaces don't show up in a bdf at all. All I would need to do then in Linux would be to make sure that /dev/hdb5 doesn't mount and then create a symlink to this device, right? What level of repartitioning would I need to do, since I've already set a filesystem as a mount point for this parition? It would seem that there's a way to partition on the fly, but I haven't found it yet. Thanks for the patience John Carlson Informix DBA Red Hat 6.0 system admin -- YIKES!
