I haven't come across it myself, but have heard there are bugs in the alter table command that can lead to problems like you have. These may alsobe present in the SE version. Have you checked this with Informix support? There may not be any newer versions for SCO 3.2.4.? so you may have to upgrade to SCO ver. 5. A bad situation, but I wouldn't expect any new developments from Informix on SCO 3.2.4.x. After all it is becoming history.
