RSS and SQLHOSTS groups

Hi, We are running Informix 11.70.FC7 on Solaris. We tried using groups in the SQLHOSTS file to connect to an RSS server though we received the error below. Aside from using the connection manager, is there a way to use something similar to groups so that if an application always connect to server ifx1 then using the groups or another method we can dynamically change where the application really connects to. Any ideas? Also just out of curiosity, why doesn't Informix let us use groups in the SQLHOSTS file when using RSS servers as the members? -27009 Connection to HDR secondary not allowed using group name Your INFORMIXSERVER setting specifies a group entry for an HDR pair. HDR primary server is currently not available, and HDR secondary server is still in secondary mode. To connect to HDR secondary server in read-only mode, set INFORMIXSERVER to the explicit DBSERVERNAME of the secondary server. To be able to process transactions, either bring up your HDR primary server, or convert your HDR seconadry server to standard mode. Thank You, --Dave --089e013c6704085ce5051063cb2a
The group name in a cluster is used to connect to the primary. During = the connect time, a search is done to figure out which of the entries is t= he primary server. If there is currently no primary server, then you will= get this error. Thank you Madison. Do you have a suggestion to accomplish what we are looking to do. Basically, we have multipe RSS servers and we want to be able to dynamically change where the application connects to without the application having to change the INFORMIXSERVER name. Sometimes we want the application to connect to a specific RSS node or sometimes to connect to the primary. Aside from the connection manager, is there another suggestion to accomplish this? --Dave On Tue, Mar 3, 2015 at 10:26 AM, Madison Pruet <mpruet@us.ibm.com> wrote: > The group name in a cluster is used to connect to the primary.
