I'm having trouble figuring out how to deal with text fields with more than 255 characters. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this is only possible if I use prepared statements, which are only available through ESQL, which I've never used. Questions: - Is it possible to use ESQL with JDBC? - Are my only options the CHAR(n) type, which seems horribly inefficient, and the TEXT type, which seems rather awkward to use? Informix 7.31.UC3 on Solaris 2.7 Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Also create a blobspace for your long text and put the column in the blobspace. Should you want to do full-text searches over the column, move to Informix9 and a DataBlade. Nona
