Personally, I'd rather hand write data than use Oracle, but there you go. :-) >Anyone want to give me a quick review of Red Brick? > >What advantages does Red Brick have over Oracle? What about >vice-versa? Redbrick has no transaction-oriented capabilities, so it's very quick at loading and querying data. It's also a *lot* simpler to manage than Oracle. It has outstanding indexing strategies for data marts. If you're building star schemas, it has special indexes to make queries fly. If you're not building "proper" data marts, it probably isn't any better than anything else. Redbrick can't tricklefeed, or it couldn't the last time I looked. It's really good for data marts, but that's *all* it can do. >Any stories of comparisons while deciding between the two? If you want to build a data mart, use Redbrick. If you want any kind of transactional capabilities, use Informix Dynamic Server. If you want to build a really, really big data warehouse, use Informix XPS (or whatever they're calling it this week! :-) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
