Informix sequencing

I'm a bit new to Informix and need some help with how informix handles primary keys and sequencing. Oracle uses sequences and manages them using CURR_VAL and NEXT_VAL to manage record sequences. How does Informix handle this? Is it handled only by using a SERIAL or SERIAL8 datatype on tables? -Derek

There are rumours that 9.3 will have Oracle-compatible sequences. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
