Hi all, I can restrict developers/contractors from creating tables within a database but is it possible to restrict developers/contractors from creating databases in an instance hoping there might be a sysmaster setting as my thumbscrews are worn out :-) IDS 7.3 uc2 thanks in advance rob

A reason in favour to upgrade, but probably not enough. Regards.
At some stage IDS 9.30 introduced an onconfig or an environment
variable (I think its undocumented so it may disappear in the future),
that you could supply which users were allowed to create databases.
I think it is called something like DBCREATE_PERMISSION (strings on
the oninit binary finds this in 9.30.UC3 and 9.40.UC2 on solaris).
Don't believe it was ever made generally available across the 7.3
products and platforms.
