Oninit problems with IDS 7.31 on Solaris

After a new install, I try to run "oninit -ivy", it gets quite a ways
through, then bombs during the following phase:
Initializing Dicitonary Cache and Stored Procedure Cache ... cannot find
message file. Check INFORMIXDIR and DBLANG.FAILED
My INFORMIXDIR is set correctly, as is INFORMIXSERVER and ONCONFIG. I've
tried to set the DBLANG env to no avail, though I've read it is not needed.
The online.log posts the following message at the failure:
10:15:10 Error: Unable to reset open files limit, must run as superuser
10:15:10 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
'/export/informix/etc/log_full.sh'
I've increased ulimit -n 1000 for file descriptors, no luck.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff Medeiros
check file permissions on oninit.
Should be:
"-rwsr-sr-x" owned by "root", group "informix"
Sounds like it is trying to reset open files limit with ulimit() and it is
failing.
