Take one of your other consultants :-) As I expect your SCO Unix about version 3.2.0 (oldest vintage I know), you still have a acceptable upgrade path to OSR 5.0.2. - a pretty stable version. Include VisionFS (just for file and print services) or AFPS (to suit your SCO as NT Server) and voila - you will have the essential functions of that a(NT)i server operating system. PS: SAMBA is another (freeware) option (comparable with VisionFS). }> In anycase we should have to up-date our system but I would like to know }> what could be the problems in moving our Informix procedure from SCO Unix }> to WinNt with Win95 clients. Will we have to modify our procedure code due }> the differences between the two O.S. and especially taking into }> consideration that the graphical interface of the two environments it is }> different? } }I assume that your applications are written in Informix-4GL or }Informix-SQL, in which case the migration to Windows-NT is basically }not possible. You would then have to re-code those apps using }Informix-NewEra or some other client/server tool, such as Delphi, }Visual Basic or so forth... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and hundred of bandits approaching your six! ... A serious warning :-) You could get troubles with *hype* tools and ODBC I wouldn't want if I had the choice. Simply take a good terminal emulation for your Win clients (preferably NT - yes, it is still the best of this hord) and continue with your 4GL || ISQL || CUI apps. -- Chris Drauch <cdr@xteam.co.at> ... just speaking for myself ...
