Why does the discussion is going on?
I don't understand why if a person does not like
INFORMIX, is using the news group to offend us, we
have to tell him: "GO AWAY" : the group is to learn
and discusse about INFORMIX and it is not a box ring.

One thing that I've been looking for (and not really understanding) are the major differences between Oracle and Informix. I've had limited exposure to Oracle (7.3.4) and I've also taken an Oracle DBA class, so I've seen enough on the Oracle side to be dangerous. I've been looking for a well-thought-out explanation of the differences between Informix and Oracle. Even though Oracle has a better marketing department, I haven't heard much from the self-proclaimed Oracle DBAs who have invaded our cyberspace that would convince me of anything. Rather, I've been able to see a very credible defense of the RDBMS that I've really grown to enjoy over the years. Add that to the value of the professional friendships within this newsgroup and the helpful attitudes contained therein . . . sounds like a winning combination to me. Now if we could just do something about that marketing department . . . 8-) (Every now and then it seems good to print the reasons why we think the way we do.) -- John Carlson Informix DBA WHSmith USA #include std_disclaimer.h /* These are my opinions, not my company's opinion */
