Access to Informix Link

When I link to an Informix table with a unique index defined thru an ODBC link, the primary key is defined in the Access but no index is made. This causes the table not to be opened by Access. The following message is given: "Microsoft Access can't open the table in datasheet view." This only happens on ACCESS 2000. Any solutions? Thanks! mb
Make sure you have the latest Microsft Data Access Components (MDAC) installed. Some versions of the MDAC had this problem with Access 2000. You can download the latest MDAC from Microsoft's web site. BTW, the problem is not because no index is created in Access. This is normal for a linked table. Access depends upon the server based indexes and in particular looks for the first unique index for a table to use as it's "bookmark" or primary key. If no such index is defined, Access will prompt you to select the columns which make up a unique key when you first link the table. If you do not do this (i.e. you click on cancel) then Access will still be able to *read* the table, but only in "snapshot" (as opposed to "dynaset") mode.
