Well, depending on how complex you wish to get, this is easily accomplished with
On-Archive.
EASY: Load the tape before you leave and build a shell script to run the archive with the
AUTOVOP and IMMEDIATE flags. Then have cron kick off the script, which will have a command
similar to the following: (The AUTOVOP and IMMEDIATE compination require that the tape be
in a ready state)
onarchive "ARCHIVE/LEVEL=0/DBSPACESET=*/VSET=Monday_Arc/AUTOVOP/IMMEDIATE/EXPIRY_DATE=13"
(LEVEL, DBSPACESET, VSET, and EXPIRY_DATE values are your choice)
MORE COMPLEX:
If you don't want to mess at all with tapes for a few days, and you have an autoloader (and
do not yet have access to OnBar), you can write a slightly more complex shell script to
automatically load / unload, read labels, and generally act as your operator. If
interested, I'll E-Mail my script. I have a 6-tape autoloader (4GB tapes, more with H/W or
S/W compression) and swap the 'brick' once a week. Of course, you need to check the status
and verify that the Archive actually executes.
