The simple answer is c4gl -I${INFORMIXDIR}/incl/tools -s -o prog prog.4gl sub1.4gl sub2.4gl but, why not use make? You can create a make.rules file that contains .SUFFIXES .4gl # 4gl language section C4GL = c4gl # these flags are for Solaris with 64-bit Informix C4FLAGS = -xarch=native64 -xO3 -xautopar -xbuiltin=%all -w # these flags are for pretty much anything else -- whichever is last is the one that is in effect C4FLAGS = -O -w FGL = fglpc .4gl~: $(GET) $(GFLAGS) $< $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -s -o $@ $< $(LDFLAGS) -rm -f $*.4gl $*.4ec $*.ec $*.[co] .4gl: $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -s -o $@ $< $(LDFLAGS) -rm -f $*.4ec $*.[co] .4gl~.4go: $(GET) $(GFLAGS) $< $(FGL) $*.4gl -rm -f $*.4gl .4gl.4go: $(FGL) $*.4gl .4gl~.o: $(GET) $(GFLAGS) $< $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -e $< $(CC) $(C4FLAGS) -I${INFORMIXDIR}/incl/tools -c $*.c -rm -f $*.4gl $*.4ec $*.ec $*.c .4gl.o: $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -e $< $(CC) $(C4FLAGS) -I${INFORMIXDIR}/incl/tools -c $*.c -rm -f $*.4ec $*.ec $*.c .4gl~.a: $(GET) $(GFLAGS) $< $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -e $< $(CC) $(C4FLAGS) -I${INFORMIXDIR}/incl/tools -c $*.c $(AR) $(ARFLAGS) $@ $*.o -rm -f $*.4gl $*.4ec $*.ec $*.[co] .4gl.a: $(C4GL) $(C4FLAGS) -e $< $(CC) $(C4FLAGS) -I${INFORMIXDIR}/incl/tools -c $*.c $(AR) $(ARFLAGS) $@ $*.o -rm -f $*.4ec $*.ec $*.[co] Save this in your local include directory as "make.rules" Create a Makefile in your working directory that starts like this: MAKEFILE = Makefile # These are the rules for making Informix targets: include $(path to)/include/make.rules # Mess with them at your peril Then, just type make prog and you'll get an executable. You can use the above for 4GL programs and functions in a standard Makefile.
