You must exclude a column from the INSERT command before its default value will be inserted into a new row. Any INSERT command which does not include the all fields for the row will cause of the insertion of the missing column's default value. There is an implied default value of "null" for columns which do not have an explicit default value. -----Original Message----- From: cornelhughes@netscape.net [mailto:cornelhughes@netscape.net] Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2000 8:46 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: SQL insert using default value Could someone give me an example of an SQL Insert that would accept the fields default value?
