Assert Failed

Hi everybody! I upgraded from online 5.07 to DSA 7.24UC6 recently, HP UX 10.20, K200 3 CPUs We are having lots of Assert Failed (3-4 times a day), which brings the System down... Informix says we should upgrade to 7.30. Anyone else has this problem? Does upgrading to 7.30 really works this around? TIA Gustavo Murad

Versions of 7.24 earlier than UC7 were prone to crashes which were specific to the way one used the server so if you were not doing the 'wrong' things it was fine otherwise it crashed frequently. Yes upgrading to a 7.3x version will help the 7.3x versions seem to be even more stable than the 7.24's were. Might as well go all the way to 7.31 though. It is showing up as the best release out there. I have it running on several machines on two different platforms and not a single hiccup in two months of use! Art S. Kagel

Have they been able to isolate the causes of the AFs? There's a particularly nasty read-ahead bug somewhere in one of those 7.24 releases. I'd recommend that you disable KAIO . . . it got fixed in 7.30. We haven't had any problems at all upon our upgrade to 7.30.
