I have some clues about this error :
i have some character (like the euro symbol and others) that are present in
the output file but they generate an error where i try to load the file.
I will try to "clean" the files of those special char using a home made
piece of software, but would gladly learn of an easiest way to proced :-)

Looks like you have to set DBMONEY environment variable explicitly (to something like ., set DBMONEY=. if you are on Windows or DBMONEY=.;export DBMONEY on UNIX) before unload, and exactly to the same value before load. Are your environment settings (DB_LOCALE etc.) the same for original and backup databases? Currency symbols are added to the MONEY columns values "by default". May be, explicit DBDATE and/or GL_DATE settings are needed too.
