In the Informix world, there is no need to create a user for the database. Informix uses the user setup from the O/S to determine valid users. I'd recommend against creating an additional user in group 'informix'. Set user 'joe' up in another group and keep 'informix' as the only user in group 'informix'. > -----Original Message----- > From: him_lommel@t-online.de [mailto:him_lommel@t-online.de] > Sent: Wednesday, September 13, 2000 7:52 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: create new user > > > Hi there ! Users SHOULD NOT BE PART OF GROUP Informix since that will give then write permissions to your chunk files and other restricted files! It is not neccessary and is STRONGLY recommended against. I keep ONLY user informix and root as members of group informix and many only include informix alone. Art S.
