raw device problem

my dbspaces is linked by raw device.but,i have some problem.
/home/informix/data>l -rt
crw-rw---- 1 informix informix 7679, 19 Aug 23 15:53 rootdbs@
/home/informix/data>> rootdbs
i has covered this rootdbs,why can i create table,or insert data within it ?
moreover,it can run after "onmode -ky" and "oninit -v" this database.

Well, you wouldn't want to had to let the whole world scribble on you
valuable data, so you wouldn't want the permissions any looser (public
read blows any connection security). You do need the system to be
able to modify the database - for any user. So, IDS runs a SUID root,
SGID informix program called oninit, and uses the temporary, raised
privileges to open and modify the underlying chunks.

Hi, I believe you question has to be more specific, Jonathan did just point out that the permissions are set correctly for the rootdbs chunk. So, what is your problem really (since everything is working correctly as I understand ...)
