There is the > same problem. Are the two instances on that machine using the same service? What hostname, protocol, and service are you using in the sqlhosts files for each? You cannot use a shared memory connection between engines on the same machine or to access a server on another host. Are you using the same sqlhosts file for both instances? What about for the remote instance? Please post all of the relevent sqlhosts entries, I suspect this is your problem. Art S. Kagel access
