Are we likely to encounter problems running our existing code?

We are currently running Informix 5.0 SE on SunOS 5.4 (which I understand is equivalent to Solaris 2.4). We intend upgrading our hardware/OS to Solaris 2.7- but not the Informix version. Are we likely to encounter problems running our existing code? The code is a mix of .4ge, .4gi and .4go together with some SQL scripts. We are aware that Informix 5.0 is not - of itself - Y2k compliant. At a pinch, we could probably limit the OS to Solaris 2.6

That is an over-statement. For a long time, the Solaris 2.4 ports were used on Solaris 2.5, 2.5.1, and 2.6 without major ill effects (and the only minor ones might, only might, have been a small performance penalty). I'm not sure whether software produced on Solaris 2.4 always runs smoothly on Solaris 7 (aka Solaris 2.7 and SunOS 5.7). My experience is that it usually does, but my experience is anything but exhaustive. I've got old ports (eg 6.0x tools) running OK for me on my Solaris 7 box, but that's not definitive since I don't stress them these days. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
