If you are an end user, buy a standard application for the purpose. If there is no such application available, find the following team. If you are a developer intending to compete developing standard applications for this market, assemble a very small team of highly skilled developers, preferably including someone who know a lot about the bussiness. Then make every one learn the bussiness better than anyone else, including those who run such bussinesses. Then develop the best application for the market. In all cases be extremly carefull trying to implement an inhouse solution. Whether you use your own people or consultants you can't possibly create an application to the standards set by a team as described above. If your bussiness is very specialized (very small market for a standard application) you may have to go this route anyway. Be prepared to pay the high costs for it.
