Wierd Filesystem question

Hello all, I have a stupid DB question. We have the root dbspace on an NFS mount that resides on a NetApp raid. We then created our main DB space on a local drive. Can anyone see any problems with this? The reason we did it this way was this is a test DB and we had everything set up using the NFS mount then ran out of room and we got a bunch of space added to the machine. In the end what we would like to use some Veretas Back-up software to back up a DB on another machine (that just uses a local filesysytem) to this test machine I was talking about above. Thanks for any info, Richard Krenek

Too many break points for a write to "disk". My $.02.. Dave Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
If the database works, great. Performance is probably gonna suck, though. In article <3933F43F.2D842B31@ihs.com>, Richard Krenek <rkrenek@ihs.com> wrote: > Hello all, > I have a stupid DB question. Not recommended. Informix cannot guarantee data integrity on an NFS drive since NFS does not support O_SYNC synchronous writes. The server cannot be guaranteed that an updated page has been flushed physically to disk. Art S. Kagel Richard Krenek wrote: > > Hello all, > I have a stupid DB question.
