You can load a 4000 onto an 8000, but the 4000 can not read / use an 8000. Wayne E. My problem is when I tried to restore onto a lower end server HP K580 DLT4000, it was aborted immediately. with error couldn't read from tape. I believe it's due to compression format was different between DLT4000 & DLT8000. Appreciated if somebody can shed lights on howto go around this problem.
