IBM will sell SequeLink connectivity solutions that connect the AS/400 as a client to relational database servers, as well as enable client/server applications to connect to the AS/400 database server. The SequeLink Client for the IBM AS/400 lets AS/400 applications connect directly to relational data sources such as Oracle, Sybase, Informix, Ingres, and DB2. Users can send SQL statements from AS/400s to SQL databases, directly from AS/400 RPG, Cobol or C based applications. The SequeLink Client can connect to a multitude of databases running on UNIX, Windows NT, OS/2, MVS, Open VMS, and other servers. For ease of implementation, the SequeLink Client connects via APPC or TCP/IP network connections. "Now developers working with AS/400s will have the freedom and flexibility of accessing all the SQL databases running on leading operating systems, enabling them to build more open, robust applications," said Michael Torto, vice president of marketing, TechGnosis, Inc. "This partnership will enable TechGnosis to expand into new markets via IBM's sales channel, and reinforce the company's position as a leader in platform independent client/server middleware." SequeLink has always supported the AS/400 as a server. SequeLink Server software for AS/400 will allow you to transparently interoperate your client applications with the AS/400 database. This means your Mac, UNIX, or Windows applications can access AS/400 data via your existing network connections. SequeLink provides a standard, high-performance direct point-to-point connection from any client application to multiple database on a variety of computing platforms, with multinational support including the double byte support for the Pacific Rim. It lets client applications connect to database servers using existing networks, while replacing the need for individual connectivity solutions provided by database vendors. By providing direct access to data, SequeLink eliminates the need for expensive and low performing gateways, and allows for database, network and platform independence. With SequeLink, organizations can select the most appropriate tools for their business. the product has been licensed to nearly 4,000 companies worldwide, connecting 160,000 clients to over 6,500 servers. Privately held TechGnosis, Inc., based in Burlington, MA is the market leader in client/server middleware for heterogeneous environments, with more than 6,500 server installations worldwide. TechGnosis maintains operations in the USA, Belgium, Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Korea, France and Germany and has additional distribution of its products through its worldwide distributor, OEM, and value-added reseller partners. ### You can also find more information on the following Web Sites: TechGnosis: http://www.techgnosis.com/techgnosis/ IBM: http://www.as400.ibm.com/QDLS/400home/cseries/offering/openserv/sequel.htm --------------------------------------------------------------------- Michiel Carpentier | Tel: +32-15-30 77 00 TechGnosis International | Fax: +32-15-32 12 60 A.
