Actually, this just means that there is some type of corruption in
one of the internal Informix data structures - usually an index or
data page. Often, there is a hex dump that includes the partnum of
the offending table or a hex address of chunk and page number that is
invalid. You must be able to decipher the hex dump, because ( on our
machines at least ) it is in reverse notation where the most significant
byte is to the right. If you send me your hex dump in the online.log, I
will help you with that ( or you can ask tech support for help ).
Barring that, you often can run tbcheck -cID on your database to flag
the bad table. Tbcheck will not always find the error, however.
If you are unable to repair the problem via unload/drop/recreate/load
or via index repair, then you may have to restore from archive.
Good luck,
Mike Ballentine

By the look of it this is an internal Informix error.
My advice, for what it is worth, would be to upgrade to a more recent
version of the engine.
