Re: Informix User Conference

Well not to rain on all the fun that's going on here with those darn imperialist going though separation anxiety :), the whole IWUC/ISP issue is largely unsettled and may not occur this year as it has in the past. What follows is my impressions from what I've heard and can change (without notice and all those other disclaimers). I've heard that IWUC, as an institution, is no longer going to be held. Instead, Informix is going to look to the user community to sponsor "regional" technical conferences that Informix will support. A prime example of this is the upcoming Forum2000 that Lester Knutsen and the Washington DC group is holding in conjunction with all the other user groups on the East Coast of the U.S. Similar events are supposed to be held in the Mid-West and the West Coast though the time required to get them up and running may make this hard to achieve this year without *alot* of hard work. Europe, Asia/Pac, and Latin America are on their own to make something happen though if this is indeed the path to be followed, the IIUG will get involved. Informix (at the corporate level) is trying to figure out some sort of management-oriented meeting to do the touchy-feelly stuff with decision- makers. Personally, I'm not really sure this is the best approach but that's the current game plan.
