I can invoke SPs from the client IF the system command is something simple like "ls > /tmp/blah.txt". But if the system command is "/bin/xyz" where xyz is a program that has embedded SQL statents, the whole thing hangs. If I put xyz in a script and have a call to the script in the system command I get one of two things happening a: If I set the environment variable in the script, the whole thing hangs. b: If I do not, then O get an error that INFORMIXSERVER is not set, Kate In article <38FB49B8.6C4F1D8C@americasm01.nt.com>, Rudy Fernandes <rferdy@americasm01.nt.com> wrote: > So you can invoke SPs from the Client, but the SPs can't run the SYSTEM > command? I can't rsh as I only have one UNIX box. I'm trying to execute it from an NT machine. NT doesn't support rsh ---- or does it have some equivalent function???? Yes the system command runs correctly on the server from the command line, Kate In article <8dh9e1$j2p$1@news.xmission.com>, Paul Watson <PWatson@Lastminute.com> wrote: > > Can you rsh the system command from the client machine??? > > Does the system command run on the server correctly from command line? > > Paul Watson # > WFSoftware Ltd # Things Are Going to > Tel: +44 1436 674729 # Get a Lot Worse > Fax: +44 1436 678693 # Before Things Get Worse > www.wfsoftware.com/informix # > -----Original Message----- > From: Kate Juliff [mailto:kcj@mechoshade.com] > Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2000 2:14 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: "load from" and stored procedures > > No. I can invoke SPs from the machine that the database resides on but > not from the client IF the SP has a system command that calls an ESQL C > program.
